I have been working my little tush off since last spring to get a track put in at our school. We had to fund raise to pay for it, work with the school board to get approval, find a contractor that would work with our budget. Plan the layout, and pray the weather cooperated. The families, faculty and local businesses have been amazing with supporting us. Premier Paving agreed to do the job after sending out close to a dozen bid requests. They did a great job too!! We really pushed it to the wire with the fall weather but got it done! Grant designed the track to be 8 feet wide and exactly 1/4 mile long. One of our fundraisers was a sign with plaques people could purchase and have anything they wanted engraved on it. Originally we were naming the track after a little boy named Brayden Berry who passed away last year, but then this fall we lost another student. We decided to re name the track after all the students and faculty that Bush Elementary has lost and will sadly probably loose in the future. When the track was finished we had a ribbon cutting ceremony. We invited the families of both of our boys who passed away to cut the ribbon. All the school attended plus some media coverage. After they cut the ribbon, all the kids got to run the track. The kids are really loving it!!! Makes me feel good to be doing so much good for our school.
